Rev Angus Palmer continues to assist at services and within the parish. Congratulations to Angus on celebrating 50 years of ordained ministry in 2014.

“The Bishop of Newcastle is pleased to announce, subject to the completion of the necessary legal formalities, the appointment of the Rev’d Tom Birch, previously the Assistant Curate of St Nicholas, Gosforth, as the new parish priest of St Mary the Virgin, Ovingham and St Oswin, Wylam. Please keep Tom and his family in your prayers as he prepares to take up this exciting new ministry.” His installation will take place at St Mary's Ovingham on Monday 18th September at 7.30pm.

Tom is a Scot by birth and aged 38. He is married to Jessica and they have three children; Harriet aged 5, Geoffrey 3 and Benjamin 10 months, they will live in Wylam vicarage. (30th July 2017).

Part-time Children's and Youth Worker, Wylam & District Churches


We are sorry to report that Jill Harrison, the part-time Children's & Youth Worker employed by the Wylam and District Churches, has now left, we express our thanks to Jill for the excellent work she has done.

Ruth Lindridge, youth worker at Prudhoe has agreed to cover the current sessions from July and we are pleased that the programme will continue pending a revaluation of the youth programme and as appropriate the appointment of a replacement for Jill.
