A Talk with supper and wine will take place on Saturday 16th September 7.00 for 7.45pm at West Mews by kind invitation of April Stephenson. Robin Brims will be the speaker.


A Wine Tasting by Waitrose will be held in the church hall on Wednesday 7th June starting at 7.00pm prompt. Admission only by ticket which are limited and cost £7.50 inclusive of the wine tasting. Event cancelled, we hope to get a new date from Waitrose.

RECENT EVENTS

 

Friday 21st April 7.00pm for 7.30pm start . A FUN WHIST DRIVE with refreshments was held in the church hall. The church hall furnishings 'fund' benefited by the profit of £264. Thanks to Brenda Newbegin and all who helped and supported the event.



Friday 10th February 6.45pm for 7.00pm there was a talk by John McCabe in the church hall. Title: Wish you were here...... instead of me!

Donations for the church amounted to £90.


 

Friday 2nd December an enjoyable Domino Night and Supper were held in the hall. £600 was raised to the church hall fund. Thank you all who supported the event.


 

On Saturday 12th November at 12 Noon there was an Organ Recital in church by Marc Bryant followed by a soup lunch in the new hall. Our thanks to Marc. Proceeds amounted to £347.50

 


 

There was an Antiques evening on Friday 17th June 2016 at West Mews by kind permission of April Stephenson. £1650 was raised for the hall building work, £750 of this thanks to Barclays bank


  

JUMP FOR JOY Raised £1,333. A great day was had by all!


 

Saturday 30th January Organ Recital by Marc Bryant was held in church,
followed by a soup lunch in the church hall. Thanks to Marc £473 was raised plus gift aid.

Monday 27th July 2015. Tour included Salisbury Cathedral with tour and cream tea, Swindon GWR steam museum, Stonehenge new visitor centre, Avebury Stone Circle, Bath and cruise on the river. We left the wet North East for good weather during the tour which was enjoyed by all. Look out for the next tour to Saltaire and Bronte Country 5th June 2016.


 

SATURDAY 4th July 2015 at 7.00pm in Church. The Sage Chamber Choir, a 40 strong choir.
Proceeds of £714 to the church hall building fund.

JUMP FOR JOY was held on Sunday 7th June.
A fun day with proceeds of £1,350 to the joint churches youth work.



FRIDAY 6th March 2015  In The Church Hall a Fun Whist Drive including sandwich  was held. Proceeds to the church hall building fund. 

 

 

SATURDAY 7th February 2015 7.00 pm. In The Institute A Country & Western Night was held.
The sum of £746 was credited to the hall building fund.

SATURDAY 18TH OCTOBER 7.00 pm. In church the Durham Constabulary Brass Band presented a most enjoyable night of music. In addition £762 was raised toward the hall building fund.

CHRISTIAN AID QUIZ on Wednesday 24th September at the Fox raised in excess of £500 for Christian Aid 

The tour to Bletchley Park and Waddesdon Manor took place on Monday 11th August 2014 for 4 days staying at the 4 star luxury Kettering Park hotel and Spa. A most enjoyable and very informative tour.  

SATURDAY 12TH JULY 2014 an evening and talk with supper at West Mews.
"Deterrence: A Military Perspective post Afghanistan whilst Russia Resurgent". was held with a welcome return by Lieutenant General Robin Brims CB CBE DSC. £1,600 was raised for the church hall building fund including £750 from Barclays Bank staff matched community fund. 

Saturday 15th March 2014 DOMINO NIGHT raised £513.30 for the Building Fund. Thanks are expressed to all who helped and tendered their support .
Wednesday 5th October Race Night 2013 raised £2,050 for the Church Building Fund. Thanks in particular to Barclays Bank for their £1 for £1 sponsorship of £750.

Wednesday 25th September 2013 Village Quiz at The Fox and Hounds with Pie & Pie supper, raised £512.30 for Christian Aid.

Brenda Newbegin held a coffee morning on Saturday 14th September 2013. We are grateful to Brenda who gifted the proceeds of £250 to the Church Building Fund.

The 2013 tour to Downton Abbey (Highclere Castle)  on Monday 12th August was fully booked and a huge success. Winchester and Oxford were both visited. A trip on a horse draw barge was also enjoyed.
Friday 28th June 2013 Wine Tasting was kindly provided by Waitrose Ponteland. This was another enjoyable social evening raising £360 for the church building fund.
Sunday 9th June 2013 Jump for Joy at St Oswin's was an enjoyable day: Proceeds to the Wylam & District youth project totalled in excess of £1,100.  

Saturday 16th March 2013: Domino Night: Thank you all who suported the event. - A great night both socially and financially, raising £516 for the church building fund.
Sunday 24th February 2013: Lent Soup Lunch, raised £115.20, proceeds to The People's Kitchen
SATURDAY 13TH OCTOBER 2012 WATER AID CEILIDH
Thanks to everyone who contributed in any way to the success of the Ceilidh.
'A Bit in the Side' played free, helping raise the total of £400 for Water Aid.

CONCERT IN CHURCH BY THE AUSTRALIAN VOICES
An internationally known group of singers from Australia
The event was well attended.

The annual church tour and theatre visit this year took place from the 3rd to 4th August 2012. This was a two day tour visiting Harrogate on day one, staying DBB at the Hilton Sheffield. On day two a visit Bakewell in the morning arriving at Buxton for lunch at The Palace Hotel before enjoying the performance of The Gondoliers at the Buxton Opera House. A very enjoyable time was had by all.
